Pathways Pretoria Centre, is based in Pretoria East on a beautiful Agricultural setting, where we cater for all the needs of individuals living with a disability.
Every day is an adventure, filled with creativity, fun interactive activities, skills-based development programmes, music, therapy and so much more, where friendships are built, and no learner is left behind.
We believe that we were all created for a purpose, where we strive to instil within our learners their worth, abilities, and self-respect. Together, celebrating daily milestones.

“I am privileged and feel very honoured to be a part of Pathways Pretoria’s family. I have been in education for over 30 years and have taught in Special Education for the past 8 years. Working with these amazing individuals has enriched my life in ways I could have never comprehended. It has made me become that woman, who chooses to speak life into others and situations so that every single Learner and Staff Member will know that they are unique, loved, worthy, and capable of doing anything they set their minds to.
Each of us have a purpose, no matter what our abilities may be, or how the world perceives us. I lead by example and will continue striving to be an educator and leader who is driven by my passions and my visions, reflecting love and compassion to every learner, parent, and staff member.

Pathways Pretoria is situated on a big, beautiful agricultural property, on the outskirts of Pretoria East. We have a very tranquil and wholesome environment. Our teachers are educated, trained, and equipped to deal with learners with various disabilities, and are very passionate in what they do. This is our calling! Currently the Centre serves a total of 60+ learners, children, and young adults aged 3-46 years of age, with varied needs. Eva van der Merwe is the Principal and is supported by 7 Teachers, 12 Facilitators, and 4 Private Caregivers, who are trained in speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, music therapy, life-skills coaching, and behavioural modification therapy. Eva is also supported by a Personal Assistant and the Management team.

Our Story
Founded by parents in 2002, Pathways Pretoria began as a playgroup aimed at addressing the unmet needs of children with moderate to severe disabilities. From humble beginnings, the playgroup has evolved into a full-fledged Centre, providing a nurturing environment that fosters growth, independence, and skill development of all ages. As a registered non-profit organization under social development, Pathways Pretoria continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and young adults living with a disability, in the East of Pretoria, helping them unlock their potential and lead fulfilling lives.
